An upfitter runs to slots. A chassis that arrives three weeks before its slot occupies yard space, gets restacked, and is exposed to weather and handling for no benefit. It does not move the completion date forward by a single day.
The sequencing that works runs backward from the upfit slot:
- Confirm the upfit slot date before booking leg one. This is the anchor for everything else.
- Target chassis arrival inside a short window ahead of the slot, not as early as possible.
- Book leg two against the completion date, at the time you book leg one, not after the upfitter calls.
- Confirm in-service site readiness for the completion window, since a finished unit with nowhere to go creates the same dwell at the other end.

Driveaway or Haulaway for Upfit Legs
Both legs of a ship-thru move can run either way, and the right answer often differs by leg.
